OBITUARY - 1996
Mrs. Clara Mayenschein, age 93, of Cedar Crest Health Care Center, passed away Tues., Jan. 23, 1996. She was born Oct. 28, 1902 and was the oldest daughter of Anna and Martin Wood of Elroy, WI. She graduated from New Lisbon High School (1922) and the La Crosse Business College. She married Dr. Christian Mayenschein on Sept. 10, 1929, in Chicago, IL; he died June 25, 1981. Mrs. Mayenschein was a member of First Lutheran Church, its Grace Circle, Cedar Crest Aux., Sons of Norway, and the Woman’s Club.
Survivors include a daughter, DeEtte Massey of Janesville; 4 grandchildren: Christine (Jeffrey) Moorehouse of Arlington, TX, Susanne (Austin) Haynes of Grand Prairie, TX, Richard Massey of Tinley Park, IL, Gretchen Massey of Dallas, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Courtney Moorehouse of Arlington, TX; 4 sisters: Agnes Ristow of Elroy, WI, Esther Wehman of New Lisbon, WI, Grace Haug of Madison, WI, and Marion Fuelleman of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Myrtle Johnson; and a brother, Maurice Wood.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Fri., Jan. 26, 1996, at the Chapel at Cedar Crest Health Care Center, 1700 S. River Road. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sat., Jan. 27, at First Lutheran Church Chapel, with Rev. Harold Kromrey officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or the Cedar Crest Health Care Center. Schneider Funeral Home is assisting the family.

MARRIAGE - 1929
Miss Clara Wood Married In Chicago
Miss Clara Wood was married to Dr. Christian F. Mayenschein in Chicago on Sept. 1, 1929 by the Rev. J. Jesperson. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood on Sunday evening of last week at which time many relatives and friends were present. The newlyweds received many beautiful and useful gifts.
The bride is a graduate of the New Lisbon high school, class of 1922, and of the Wisconsin Business University, La Crosse.
The groom is a graduate of the Hillsboro high school and is completing his studies this year at the Von Schill Memorial College of Chiropody and Pedic Surgery in Chicago. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mayenschein of Hillsboro. The happy couple will make their home in Chicago.
